Saturday Night Social Dances

Saturday Night Ballroom/Social Dances are held twice a month. Unlike the Friday Night Dances, these dances are umbrella dances in which the entire dance community is invited to participate. Line dancers join ballroom dancers at this fun dance. Line dancers use the center of the floor, as the ballroom dancers follow line of dance around them.

The energy is high, and the music is, of course. contemporary ballroom with a twist ( literally ) or two and sways added to spice up the fun.

Frank hosts the Saturday Night Dances. The class before the dance features patterns and techniques for various ballroom dances, or Peter Dryden or Annette Sweeney will make a guest appearance and teach a popular line dance before the dance.

6:30 - 7:00 pm, Frank or Peter teach a lesson

7:00 - 9:30 pm, Ballroom Social Dance

Cost: $15 per person

A few tips to keep in mind,

Picking the Song

Your wedding dance song is unique to you and your special day. Traditional slow songs, fast swing tunes or a sultry Latin vibe can all work, If you need help picking a song, we can make a few recommendations. In your email note send a few songs you like and we can gain a good understanding of what dance style would match your music.

After the song is agreed upon, your instructor will determine which dance style is best suited for your music and he/she will begin to choreograph the steps. You’ll not only receive choreographed instruction, but also essential pieces that add finesse to the event such as; how to lead a bride onto the dance floor, taking the “dance hold”, punctuating movements with style, picture perfect dips, graceful endings, and a proper escort off the floor.

Planning Lesson Time

It's a good idea to start lessons at least two months prior to the wedding day. Typically, 5-6 lessons will give you a lovely dance sure to wow your guests. You’ll also need to plan home practice time. We recommend at least one hour of practice for each lesson.

If you've left this for the last minute, we can arrange emergency sessions for you! We realize the many demands on your time in the days before a wedding, so we can keep it simple and fun!

Family and Friends

We welcome parents, family, and friends to learn to dance for your special occasion. Father/Daughter, Mother/Son, and Mother/Daughter dances can also be unique and memorable. All are welcome to take either group classes or private lessons. We can also arrange semi-private classes for a group.

Contact: Frank Markgren at FoxRunDanceNH+Frank@Gmail.com to discuss your plans for the perfect first dance.
